Camagüey, Jan. 8. - The Territorial Division of the Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA, for its acronym in Spanish) S.A. plans to install approximately 15 new radiobases this year.
This was announced by Adianet González Reyes, head of the Investment Department of the aforementioned entity, who added that one of the objectives is also to support the rice program in the municipality of Vertientes, specifically in the community of El Alazán, where a modern site is to be installed.
She also referred to Nuevitas, a locality where many dissatisfactions persist, and in this regard, work will be carried out to improve mobile telephony, as a prelude to the introduction of new radiobases next year.
Furthermore, she mentioned that around 15 zones have been identified in the province where, in line with the arrival of equipment to the province, technology should be modernized, as it is considered obsolete and causes repeated failures in telephone service.
Camagüey has 173 radiobases, of which 39 percent have energy backup. At the same time, 97,783 fixed telephone lines are active, and in more than 30 hard-to-reach communities, communications were strengthened in 2025 for the benefit of over 20,000 residents of Camagüey. (Source: ACN)
