Camagüey, May 30 - A man of the Revolution, with more than nine decades dedicated to his people, is the Commander of the Revolution Guillermo García Frías. The presentation of the book "Las batallas de Guillermo, conversaciones con un Comandante de la Revolución Cubana" (Guillermo's Battles, conversations with a Commander of the Cuban Revolution), by journalist Wilmer Rodríguez Fernández, was held in the Land of El Mayor.
This distinguished combatant and patriot, of firm convictions, is certain that going back to our roots is essential to build the future that will be marked by the impetus and innovative ideas of the new generations.
In this sense, the Commander called on the youth of Camagüey to continue defending the homeland, which is of incalculable value.
Journalist Wilmer Rodríguez Fernández spoke about the book "Las batallas de Guillermo, conversaciones con un Comandante de la Revolución Cubana", which was received at the emblematic Ignacio Agramonte Revolution Square, describing it as a work written for the present and future generations of Cubans.
The book is a collection of interviews that narrate the life of Commander Garcia Frias from his childhood and his incorporation to the struggle for the independence of Cuba, to his current role. It is a text that seeks to preserve the history of this hero, which is equivalent to preserving the history of the Revolution.
The first edition was published by Editora Ocean Sur and, looking for a wider diffusion, it was decided to reprint it with Editorial Verde Olivo. Thanks to this, today Camagüey citizens can acquire this book, which will be distributed in the network of bookstores in the city.
Rodriguez Fernandez pointed out that presenting the book at the Plaza Mayor General Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz was a great privilege. This is the place where Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz warned, in his historic speech, about the possibility of the disintegration of the socialist camp and also reaffirmed his confidence in the people of Camagüey for the defense of the achievements of the Cuban socialist project.
The event was attended by Federico Hernández Hernández, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and its first secretary in the province, Jorge Enrique Sutil Sarabia, Governor of the Camagüey Territory, as well as other members of the Party and the provincial government.
