Camagüey, May 10th. - The Fourth International Scientific Convention organized by the University of Camagüey will be held from 21 to 24 May with a focus on internationalization and sustainable development through multiple symposia.
The event, consolidated from its inception as the International Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation, will feature 10 symposia and a series of workshops that will address various areas of scientific and technological knowledge. This year, the event seeks to expand its international impact and relevance.
Dayana Figueredo, head of the International Student Care Group, emphasized that the symposium on internationalization is essential in the current context. Globalization requires universities to adapt their approaches and develop lines of research in this area.
Researchers from several Cuban universities, as well as from other countries such as Mexico, Angola, Colombia, Russia and Spain, will participate in the symposium. This exchange of ideas promises to enrich the academic experience of all attendees.
María Victoria Villavicencio, Director of International Relations of the Ministry of Higher Education (MES), will discuss with her conference the Challenges and perspectives of the internationalization of Cuban higher education.
In turn, Dr. Mabelín Armentero, vice-rector of the Agrarian University of Havana, will be present, as well as Dr. Natalia Komovich, of the State University of Pyatigorsk, Russia. All with presentations that will bring a valuable international perspective to the Convention.
For his part, Yolexis Cardona Soberao, dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of Camagüey, announced that the meeting organized by this academic section will have 82 participants, including students, and the collaboration of four outstanding sponsors, such as BioCuba Pharma and Gamma Wave.
The workshops will include topics such as natural products and biotechnology, environmental management and resilience to climate change, and product engineering, each led by experts in their respective areas, including researchers Enrique Molina and Dr. Isidro Méndez Santos, both from the high-school camagaeyana house.
The event will be held in face-to-face and virtual modalities, using the CleanMeeting platform to facilitate interaction between attendees. This is expected to expand participation and allow for an enriching exchange of ideas.
More than 250 foreign delegates from six countries are expected to attend, highlighting Mexico's broad representation. In addition, 136 national participants from various universities and agencies in the country have been confirmed.
