Young specialists to bring economic debate to Cuban universities

Havana, November 29 - Young specialists from various organizations were officially recognized at the Ministry of Economy and Planning headquarters in Havana as members of the "My Hands for Cuba" expedition. They will participate in discussions at universities throughout the country regarding the Government Program aimed at correcting distortions and revitalizing the economy.

The flag of the Union of Young Communists (UJC, for its acronym in Spanish) was presented to the expedition members by Joaquín Alonso Vázquez, Minister of Economy and Planning, and Meyvis Estévez, First Secretary of the UJC National Committee.

The group members come from the Ministries of Economy and Planning, Energy and Mines, Finance and Prices, Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Foreign Affairs, and the Central Bank of Cuba. They will form four working groups (east, central, west, and Havana) to hold meetings and debates in groups and faculties at all universities.

Estévez assured them that although the task is difficult and takes place in a complex scenario, the young people cannot remain idle, as each Cuban must express their opinions and contribute from their own space to the good performance of the program.

He explained that the objective is to encourage the active participation of students in the analysis of the Government Program, ensuring that each student has a space to express ideas and, above all, to evaluate the specific tasks that would be undertaken in students centers to contribute to its implementation.

Prior to the flag presentation ceremony, the young people met with Alonso Vázquez, who explained and detailed the fundamental aspects of the document. The study and analysis of this document will take place until December 30 in all base organizations of the Communist Party of Cuba, the UJC, the Cuban Workers' Union and its unions, the National Association of Small Farmers, and the University Students Federation.
