Santiago de Cuba, November 29 – Once again, Camagüey has demonstrated its solidarity with this historic eastern city. The presence of the people of Camagüey has been strongly felt, expressed in a variety of food and industrial products, in a gesture that reflects the solidarity of the Cuban people.
Hurricane Melissa struck the city of Santiago weeks ago, leaving visible wounds still in that territory. The aid from Camagüey has been a significant support during the emergency, and its reception has been warm and grateful from both the authorities and the general population.
The solidarity between the two provinces has been demonstrated on numerous occasions, strengthening the bonds of brotherhood. As the elderly Perdomo commented from a collection warehouse: "You can't imagine how we have been able to address many urgent needs with the agricultural resources contributed by your province."

The passage of the natural phenomenon caused severe damage to crops, hindering food availability in the region. In addition to aid to Santiago, Camagüey also collaborated with Granma and, more recently, with Guantánamo, which also suffered the effects of Melissa.
This act of cooperation reflects the spirit of unity that characterizes Cuba in the face of natural adversities. (Text and photos: Gilberto Rodríguez Rivero/Contributor to Radio Cadena Agramonte)
