Transport Minister evaluates bus production in Artemisa

Artemisa, Jan 13 - Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, Minister of Transport, toured the Evelio Prieto Guillama Bus Production Company (Caisa), located in Guanajay, to check on the fulfillment of agreements and the work projections for the newly begun year, reported the newspaper of the western province, El Artemiseño.

During the visit, the minister was accompanied by Henry Rodríguez Terrero, director of the Havana Transport Company, and received information from Iosvany Frías Álvarez, Caisa's general director, on the limitations that affected the delivery of buses intended for the capital's passenger transportation system.

Prolonged power outages and difficulties with fuel supply in the second half of 2025 prevented meeting the established deadlines for vehicle delivery.

Frías Álvarez explained that the company received a donation from the People's Republic of China with parts and components for repairs, while others are produced within the entity itself or contracted from the national industry.

Pablo Horta Galán, Caisa's technical director, indicated that they have begun work on the Yutong brand's 6118 model, a rigid type, whose repair is less complex as it was previously assembled at the company and there are manuals and worker experience available.

The production plan includes 60 rigid buses and 40 articulated ones, to complete one hundred vehicles in 2026.

During his tour of the assembly areas, Rodríguez Dávila verified the quality of the finished equipment and announced that the company's management committed to delivering the first eight buses this month.

The Minister congratulated the people and transporters of Artemisa on the province's 15th anniversary and highlighted the work projections for the road network to improve its quality.

Caisa, the only bus assembly plant in Cuba, constitutes a strategic industrial hub for the modernization of public transport, import substitution, and the guarantee of mobility services for the population, under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport. (Source: ACN)
