Cuban Leaders sign Condolence Book at Venezuelan Embassy


Havana, Jan 13 - President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez signed the Condolence Book on Tuesday in Tribute to the heroes and martyrs of Venezuela and Cuba, who gave their lives in defense of the sovereignty of that sister nation.

At the Venezuelan Embassy in Havana, the president wrote: "The vile and criminal attack against sister Venezuela and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro Moros and comrade Cilia Flores provoked great pain and indignation among the Cuban people."

"We express our genuine and heartfelt condolences, and the revolutionary tribute to the women and men of Venezuela and the 32 Cuban combatants who gave their lives in defense of Venezuela, in defense of Cuba, in defense of Latin America and the Caribbean."

"In the face of threats from the Yankee Empire, we reaffirm our loyalty to the legacy of our founding fathers, of Fidel and of Chávez." "Honor and glory to our heroes. Homeland or Death! We will prevail! Ever onward to victory!"

Participants included Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the National Assembly; Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz; Secretary of Organization, Roberto Morales Ojeda; Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla; Head of the International Relations Department of the Central Committee, Emilio Lozada García; and Ambassador Orlando Maneiro.

In the Book, open from last Friday until this Tuesday, Cuban authorities, members of the Diplomatic Corps, and the people of Cuba have signed, shaken since the early hours of January 3 by the criminal attack and kidnapping of President Maduro and his companion Cilia. (Source: Presidency Website)
