Camagüey’s Provincial Pediatric Hospital close to its 55th anniversary

Camagüey, Jul 20.- With the participation of founders and long-standing specialists who have dedicated their lives to the attention and care of infants, the postage stamp dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the Doctor Eduardo Agramonte Piña Provincial Pediatric Hospital in the city of Camagüey was cancelled.

The meeting was propitious for the institution's management to recognize three of the new economic actors (Carrasco, Rey de reyes and RELE) who have been decisive in the repair and maintenance work of various premises.

Martha María Rodríguez Gallo, a nurse in the Endocrinology and Dermatology clinics at the Pediatric Specialties Polyclinic and founder of the Hospital, expressed that since 1968 her main concern has been for the well-being and health of each child who requires medical attention.

On the other hand, doctor Leonardo Ramírez Rodríguez, director of Pediatric, expressed the importance of this event and commented that as part of the program of celebrations for the five and a half decades, a Scientific Conference and another with a territorial character of Pediatric Surgery will be held on July 21 and 22, while the Camagua Folkloric Ensemble will give away a cultural gala for the enjoyment of the group, which will take place in the Principal Theater of the city of Camagua.

The event was attended by Yennis León Mayedo, vice-governor of Camagüey; Carlos Morán Giraldo, Provincial Director of Public Health and other authorities and medical personnel.

A recent report by Radio Reloj indicates that the aforementioned care center was founded on July 23, 1968 and currently has 356 beds; it covers 39 medical specialties, with prestige gained in disciplines such as Nephrology, Neurosurgery, Hematology, Oncology and Pediatric Surgery; and receives patients from other provinces; all this without neglecting the research and teaching work.
