Camagüey, Nov 8.- Sancti Spiritus’s writer Ariel Fonseca Rivero was awarded in the XXIX edition of the Emilio Ballagas National Prize with the work I killed my mother, which was announced during the closing of the event that became a meeting between artists and friends.
Fonseca Rivero has participated in several literature competitions in Camagüey and says that he finished this novel almost at the end of the call period, but he always longed to compete with this work, which for him has immense sentimental value.
"The inspiration comes as a result of the death of my mother, because the need to pay tribute to her, guide memories and return some that marked our lives collapsed in me, as a way of keeping her present, making her eternal," he expressed.
Yoandra Santana Perdomo, member of the jury, thanked all the participants, who reported great quality in the 12 works delivered; Likewise, she reported that the two remaining finalist novels (Yo no me voy de aqui, by Ronel González Sánchez and Forbidden to die in Havana, by Argenis Osorio Sánchez) were each worthy of a mention.
For his part, Maikel Sardaña Pérez, director of Editorial Ácana, called on writers and artists to participate in the XXX edition of this important literary event, which next year will be dedicated to children's literature.
Yunielkis Naranjo Guerra, director of the Enrique José Varona Provincial Book and Literature Center, presented his experiences during the cultural exchange visit he recently made to Chile, an opportunity that served to share experiences of cultural management in the Camagüey territory.
