Havana, Nov 27.- Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, will soon travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar and Iran, where he will make official work visits.
As reported from his account in X, the president will participate in the UAE in the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in 2023 (COP-28).
To talk about climate change, a Summit of Leaders of the Group of 77 and China has also been convened there, of which Cuba is pro tempore president, Díaz-Canel noted in his message.
“Compatriots: In hours we will leave for the United Arab Emirates, then to Qatar and Iran to make official work visits. In the UAE we will participate in #COP28, where a Summit of G-77 and China Leaders on climate change has also been called. We will inform you.”
The Conference of the Parties (COP) is an annual meeting where countries that are parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) meet to make decisions on how to address this challenge internationally.
COP-28, which will take place from November 30 to December 12, 2023 in Dubai, could also be an ideal setting to discuss new strategies in relation to climate change, taking into account scientific and technological advances, as well as the complex political and economic realities of the moment.
