Cuba reaffirms support for the cause of the Palestinian people (+ Post)

Havana, 29 Nov.- Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, reaffirmed today his country’s support for the cause of the Palestinian people and its legitimate struggle against illegal occupation and genocide.

In a post on social network X (formerly Twitter) about the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the Cuban head of state affirmed that it is up to the peoples of the world to demand peace, in the face of the conflict with Israel.

Since the escalation of violence last October, Díaz-Canel has reiterated Cuba’s support in several messages on the social network, and has also participated in solidarity initiatives in the greater Antilles.

Last Thursday the president was at a solidarity march held in Havana, to demand an end to the Israeli attacks.

Likewise, he received young Palestinians studying in Cuba at the Palace of the Revolution, with the purpose of extending a hug of solidarity to them, and reaffirming the island's support.

Havana's position, expressed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is one of rejection of the deaths of civilians and innocent people from all parties involved in the conflict, without differentiating ethnicity, nationality or religious faith.

Cuba reaffirms its support for a broad, just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, based on the creation of two States, which allows the exercise of the right to self-determination of the Palestinian people and the creation of an independent and sovereign within the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and that also guarantees the right of return for refugees.
