Camagüey, 6.- The work of the doctors of the Provincial Center of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology of Camagüey was prized as heroic within the framework of the Latin American Medicine Day, which was recently celebrated.
At the event, the Manuel Fajardo Rivero Distinction was awarded to five specialists who have dedicated more than 20 and 25 years of their lives to public health with excellence and commitment.
The work of 14 doctors who have successfully faced and controlled the epidemics that have threatened the territory this year was also highlighted.
Doctor Iluminada Menéndez Placeres, director of the center, stated that Camagüey doctors have known how to overcome the current difficulties and shortcomings, and have maintained the humanist vocation and the legacy of Fidel Castro in the most noble of professions.
She also reported that the dengue outbreak that affected the province in recent months was stopped, which reduced the incidence rate in that area and demonstrated the progress of health in the city of Tinajones.
She urged them to continue providing health care to all communities in the province and to fulfill the assigned tasks to improve the well-being of the people.
In this context, Menéndez Placeres received recognition for his work leading a team of professionals dedicated to the prevention and control of diseases, both infectious and chronic.
The center aspires to obtain the category of Excellence in its specialty, a project that is already underway thanks to the effort and dedication of its workers, who are part of the army of white coats and guarantee the quality of health services.
