Havana, December 11.- For the first time in the history of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (Parlatino), a Cuban deputy will occupy the Presidency of this regional organization.
Rolando Miguel González Patricio, who until now served as Alternate President of Parlatino, has served as President of this organization since December 10.
Information from the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament states that the also head of the International Relations Commission of the National Assembly of People's Power of the Republic of Cuba, as of this Sunday, "replaces Senator Silvia Giacoppo in office, who culminates his mandate.”
González Patricio has a degree in International Political Relations from the Raúl Roa García Higher Institute of International Relations, as well as a professor and Senior Researcher and a Doctor in Historical Sciences.
He began his working life as a researcher at the Center for Martí’s Studies, where he rose to the position of director. Later, he began to carry out the same responsibility at the Juan Marinello Cuban Institute for Cultural Research.
He was Rector of the University of the Arts, until reaching his current position. He was elected as a deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power for the municipality of Campechuela, in the province of Granma.
