Havana, July 18 – Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today received the ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Waleed Abdulrahman.
The president announced the meeting through the social media platform X, where he expressed his satisfaction with the "current level of political-diplomatic relations," as well as the importance we place on the cooperation projects implemented and in progress.
For his part, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez was present at the meeting and reaffirmed the island's willingness to work to strengthen economic-commercial and cooperation ties in various areas.
Diplomatic ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Cuba were established in 1957, but it wasn't until 2007 that the island opened its embassy in Riyadh, a gesture reciprocated in April 2011 with the opening of a Saudi diplomatic headquarters in Havana.
Since then, both nations have cooperated bilaterally and increased their coordination and mutual support in international forums and organizations. (Source: Prensa Latina)
