Havana, September 11 – Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez paid tribute today to diplomat Félix García, assassinated 45 years ago in New York by terrorists organized and financed in the United States.
Through the social media platform X, the foreign minister recalled the crime perpetrated against García and affirmed that Cuban revolutionary diplomacy “will remain firm against those who promote hatred and terrorism against our people.”
On September 11, 1980, a member of the anti-Cuban terrorist organization Omega 7 shot García, who was accredited to the United Nations (UN), on a New York street.
The Cuban diplomat thus became the first foreign representative accredited to the UN to be assassinated in the United States. (Text and photo: PL)
