Camagüey, Jan. 5.- After the sugar harvest in Camagüey was stopped for a few days due to high humidity in the cane supply fields, grinding resumed at the Siboney mill, in the municipality of Sibanicú.
Salvador Barges Rivero, responsible for the agricultural branch in the Directorate of Coordination and Technical Supervision of the AzCuba Business Group in the province of Camagüey, confirmed, during a meeting convened by the local branch of the Association of Sugar Technicians of Cuba , the reestablishment of operations factories.
To support the delivery of the grass to Siboney, raw material is transported from the Las 500 area, in Vertientes, where a platoon works with two CASE machines and eight trucks; Meanwhile, other harvesters from that municipality provide services in the sugarcane fields of Sibancú, until the battle in Battle of Las Guásimas starts.
Regarding this mill, Barges Rivero assured that it is practically ready and the cuts are expected to begin on Sunday, although at this time the humidity is high in that region of the mid-southern Camagüey; while at the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes center there are some resources necessary for the start of the campaign there.
The rescue of technological discipline in the groups and greater consecration and responsibility, as well as the link of the management at different levels with the base and the participation of the people in the harvest constitute premises to fulfill the plan, considered Barges Rivero.
The constant search for solutions to the lack of resources is also decisive in facing the campaign, a matter of top priority because of what it represents for the economy, the manager added.
