Cuban president calls to consolidate food production


Santiago de Cuba, Feb 22. - The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, called today to consolidate the program of food sovereignty in Santiago de Cuba.

This happened during the visit of the president to the productive Pole November 7, in the municipality of Santiago de Palma Soriano, located more than 40 kilometers north of this city, where the diversification of crops is enhanced in its more than 204 hectares.

In exchange with Carlos Vega, head of production of the Agricultural Production Cooperative, Victoria de Girón, Díaz-Canel was interested in the productive force, its working conditions, the payment to the workers and urged the people to engage in productive work as a way to reinvigorate the economy and correct distortions.

In Palma Soriano, the Cuban president also checked the attention provided by the Communist Party of Cuba in the municipality and the province to food production and work on the implementation of measures for the development of economic and social programs.

During the visit Díaz-Canel was accompanied by the head of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the Party Dr. Roberto Morales, the member of the Central Committee and first secretary in Santiago de Cuba, Beatriz Johnson Urrutia, and the acting Governor, Manuel Falcón Hernández.
