Tourism workers in Camagüey committed to the economic development of the country (+ Audio)


 

Camagüey, March 4.- Those who work in the Hospitality and Tourism sector in Cuba celebrate this March 4, the Workers' Day of the sector, with the commitment that it represents to be the locomotive of the Cuban economy to promote the development of the nation.

Ismara Acosta Ferrer, general secretary of the Provincial Bureau of that Union in Camagüey, explained that in the next few hours the provincial celebration will take place in the Las Clavellinas popular camp, an occasion in which union leaders and prominent entities will be recognized.

He noted that the 510th Anniversary Distinction of the founding of the town of Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe will be awarded, as well as the Elpidio Sosa González medal, the latter to outstanding members with more than 20 and 25 years of uninterrupted work.

The union carries out an emulative movement for the quality of services, and previously actions have taken place in the union sections, such as a domino tournament at the Transtur branch, and a softball tournament is planned, all of this for the sake of to promote the enjoyment of culture, sports and healthy recreation among workers, as an expression of fraternization and unity.

Among the achievements of this last stage, the extension of services to hospital and university centers stands out, with the participation of the Popular Camping Provincial Company and the Palmares non-hotel branch, and belonging to the latter, the management of the La Campana de Toledo establishment stands out, located in the Plaza de San Juan de Dios.

Non-state sector workers are also involved in the March 4 event, which includes those who offer accommodation and gastronomic services who, together with the rest of the membership, are involved in the process of the Third National Conference of the Hotel and Tourism Union, the XXII Congress of the Central Workers of Cuba and the celebrations for the upcoming May. Day

The current winter season implies challenges for the sector, in order to increase the number of visitors; while working on the diversification of products and services, with new projects that contemplate, for example, ecological tourism, objectives prioritized by the Territorial Delegation of the Ministry of Tourism.

The hotel and tourism sector in Camagüey has 101 union structures, to which more than 2,300 workers are affiliated, of them 106 from the non-state sphere and 36 retirees, whose premises are efficiency, quality and professionalism.
