Havana, Mar 4.- 64 years after the attack on the steamer La Coubre, in the port of Havana, Cuba remembers the victims of that terrorist act, in whose funeral honors the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, exclaimed for the first time the slogan "Homeland or death!".
Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, on his official account on social network X (formerly Twitter) underlined that 101 lives were lost as a result of sabotage and more than 400 people were maimed.

terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
In his message, the parliamentary leader highlighted the validity of the words of the Commander in Chief, when, after the attack, he expressed: "And not only will we know how to resist any aggression, but we will know how to defeat any aggression."
The Foreign Ministry also evoked the unfortunate event on the same social network, and renewed its commitment to the slogan “Homeland or Death!” proclaimed by Fidel, a legacy that, the publication assures, continues to be the banner of struggle of the Cuban people.
On March 4, 1960, around 3:10 pm, an explosion shook the French steamship La Coubre, docked in the Havana port with weapons and ammunition for the defense of the country; When the rescue of the wounded and corpses began, a second detonation claimed new victims.
The Cuban authorities denounced it as a terrorist act by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to prevent the nascent Revolution from becoming militarily stronger. (ACN) (Photo: @DiazCanelB)
