United States accused of creating enemies to increase the military budget

Beijing, March 28.- China opposes the US practice of artificially creating enemies from scratch in order to increase its military budget, declared Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian.

“As a pretext to increase the military budget, the United States has repeatedly used China, fabricated and inflated the non-existent 'Chinese military threat.' “This practice of artificially creating enemies out of thin air is extremely dangerous from a strategic point of view and China is firmly opposed,” Wu commented at a press conference.

The spokesperson stated that “in recent years, the US has continued to significantly increase its military budget,” which exceeds the total military expenditures of nine countries and “the international community is paying close attention to this.”

“China does not want to threaten anyone, but it is also not afraid of anyone's threats,” Wu said, adding that “no one, no force, can stop the development and growth of the Chinese Army.”

Previously, a senior Pentagon official reported that the Administration of US President Joe Biden sent an appeal to Congress, requesting $849.8 billion for national defense in fiscal year 2025.
