Brazilian Landless Movement launches solidarity campaign for Cuba

Brasilia, July 3 – The Landless Rural Workers' Movement (MST, for its acronym in Spanish) of Brazil launched a new solidarity campaign to help the people of Cuba, who are currently experiencing a deep economic crisis impacting all sectors.

This isn't just about helping a brother country; it's about defending a symbol of resistance, say voices from the heart of the Brazilian peasant struggle. Others assert that the island is always present where it is most needed; now it's time to give back.

Promoted by the MST, a movement organized in 24 states across the five regions of the South American giant, the crusade has the urgent and clear objective of raising funds to purchase essential medicines for Cuban hospitals.

These health centers are facing difficulties due to the intensification of the United States economic blockade, especially after President Donald Trump signed a memorandum in recent days that will tighten restrictions imposed on Cuba.

The US presidential directive seeks to reverse some of the measures introduced by the Joe Biden administration.

The lack of energy, gas, medicines, and hospital supplies is severely impacting the Cuban healthcare system, directly affecting the most vulnerable population, explained the organizers, who have already formally consulted the Cuban Ministry of Public Health to obtain a list of priority medicines.

The logistics will be complex but transparent: the funds raised will be used to purchase medicines directly from laboratories and then airlift them to Havana. Every peso donated will be a dose of relief.

We know it's just a drop in the ocean, but we cannot remain silent in the face of injustice, says the MST hoping to count on the help of other popular organizations.

While social media begins to fill with slogans of solidarity, the organizers insist that the minimum goal must be surpassed for the task to have a real impact. This is not just about charity, but about historical justice.

The action is just beginning, but it is already sprouting as a seed of hope. In every corner where the MST's struggle flourishes, a gesture of revolutionary love for the island that refuses to surrender is also rising. (PL) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
