Moscow, October 17- Moscow and Washington will promptly begin preparations for a new meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, announced Yuri Ushakov, noting that the two leaders discussed the possibility of holding the summit during a phone conversation.
“It is truly a very important moment. It was agreed that representatives of both countries will immediately get to work arranging the summit, which could take place, for example, in Budapest,” Ushakov told reporters. He indicated that the U.S. President mentioned the Hungarian capital as a possible location for the talks and his Russian counterpart supported the proposal.
Ushakov also pointed out that preparations will start in the coming days with a phone call between the Russian and U.S. foreign ministers, Sergey Lavrov and Marco Rubio, respectively.
“As the work of the representatives develops, that of the Russian Foreign Minister and the U.S. Secretary of State, the exact date for the summit will probably be clarified,” he added.
Meanwhile, Putin and Trump agreed to stay in contact, with Ushakov describing their phone call on Thursday as “very useful.”
The White House tenant also stated on social media that he will meet the Russian leader in the agreed location, Budapest, to see if they can end the Ukrainian conflict.
Additionally, he said that before his meeting with Putin, a meeting between senior U.S. and Russian advisers will take place next week. “Initial meetings for the U.S. side will be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, along with others to be appointed soon,” he added.
On his part, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán emphasized that the planned meeting in his country between Putin and Trump is great news for peace-loving peoples worldwide. “We are ready!” he declared.
