Ramallah, Oct. 20th - The Israeli Army killed 97 Palestinians and wounded another 230 in the Gaza Strip since the start of the truce, on October 10th, authorities in that territory reported today.
In a statement, the Government Press Office there stated that the Armed Forces of that country (IDF) committed 80 violations since then, including 21 yesterday, when more than 40 people died in a wave of attacks.
"The occupation committed 80 documented violations since the ceasefire was declared, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law," the institution stressed.
It detailed that the infractions included direct fire against civilians, bombings, deliberate attacks, and arrest of civilians.
In such actions, the uniformed personnel used armored vehicles and tanks, warplanes and drones, responsible for executing selective attacks against direct targets, he pointed out.
These violations "were monitored in all governorates of the Gaza Strip without exception, which confirms that the occupation (Israel) has not committed to stopping its aggression and continues its policy of killing and terrorizing our people," he estimated.
The IDF admitted in recent days that they killed several Palestinians in the coastal enclave by claiming that they approached the so-called yellow line, the military withdrawal zone in the territory.
On October 10th, a ceasefire agreement between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel came into effect, which included an exchange of prisoners, a partial withdrawal of the Army, and the entry of humanitarian aid to the territory as the first phase of the commitment.
Now both parties, with the mediation of several countries, must begin the second stage of the dialogue, which includes topics such as the governance of Gaza and the weapons of Hamas, which the group refused to hand over, despite the insistence of U.S. President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
This Sunday, the truce was on the verge of exploding after an attack by militiamen against Israeli troops deployed in the south of the Strip, which caused the death of two soldiers, after which Netanyahu blamed Hamas.
The Islamist formation denied any participation in the incident and affirmed being committed to the current truce.
In response, the Armed Forces launched a wave of bombers against dozens of sites in the territory, which caused more than 40 deaths. (Text and photo: PL)
