Jordan condemns Israeli intention to annex the West Bank (+ Photos)

Amman, July 3 – The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs today strongly condemned statements by members of the far-right Israeli government seeking to impose Israeli autonomy over the occupied West Bank.

Israel has no autonomy over the occupied Palestinian territories, the Foreign Ministry stated in a statement issued in response to the recent statement by Zionist Justice Minister Yariv Levin, who called for the annexation of the West Bank.

The note added that these statements constitute a flagrant violation of international law and Israel's obligations as the occupying power in the Palestinian territories.

In turn, the ministry's spokesperson, Sufian Al-Qudah, announced that such pronouncements also constitute an unacceptable attack on the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent and sovereign state as established on June 4, 1967, with occupied Jerusalem as its capital.

He emphasized the Hashemite Kingdom's categorical rejection and strong condemnation of these statements, which highlight the Israeli government's extremist policies and ongoing illegal practices in the West Bank, including incursions and settlement construction.

According to the spokesperson, this is a flagrant violation of international law, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2334 and the International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion, which emphasized the need to end the Israeli occupation, the illegality of colonial settlement construction, and the invalidity of all measures to annex occupied Palestinian territory.

Al-Qudah warned about the consequences of the escalation of Israeli policies, and stressed that all Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank are totally illegal, null and void.

He called on the international community to assume legal and moral responsibility to compel Israel, the occupying power, to stop its aggression against Gaza and violations in the West Bank, offer protection to the Palestinians and guarantee their legitimate rights to an independent state.
