Dominican and Cuban parties sign cooperation agreement


Santo Domingo, Apr. 1st. - The United Left Movement (MIU) of the Dominican Republic and the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) signed a cooperation agreement with the objective of consolidating relations of friendship and solidarity between both political forces, it emerged today.

The MIU published this Monday on its official website that the agreement was signed in Havana by the head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the PCC, Emilio Lozada, and the Secretary of International Affairs of the MIU, Martha Pérez.

She pointed out that Miguel Mejía, general secretary of the MIU and minister of Regional Integration Policies of the Dominican Republic, Mayra Rodríguez, from the Women's Secretariat, and Robinson Acevedo, national secretary of the organization, participated in the ceremony.

Also attending for Cuba were the coordinator of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Department of International Relations, Juan Carlos Frometa, and Jenynaida Cárdenas, an official from that department, the note stated.

The MIU highlighted that both parties valued this step that will allow the traditional friendly relations between the two parties to be specifically consolidated, from different areas.

It noted that the document includes 10 articles that outline the areas of action and convergence such as political training, communication and news media, social networks and partisan publications, as well as those related to research institutions subordinate to the respective national directorates. of both Parties.

They will also promote friendly exchange between social and mass organizations, and mutual and international solidarity.

During his visit to Cuba that began last Thursday, the general secretary of the MIU held a fraternal meeting with the ambassador of the People's Republic of China in that country, Ma Hui.

Mejía and the delegation accompanying him spoke with the diplomat about issues of common interest, including the global international situation as a consequence of political and geopolitical conflicts that affect the advancement of the development of peoples, the MIU published on its official website.

The delegation of this Caribbean nation visited the new ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Cuba, concurrent with the Dominican Republic, Le Quang Long.

Likewise, he met with the director of the National Center for Sexual Education (Cenesex), Mariela Castro.

He also visited the commander of the Rebel Army Delio Gómez, who in June 1959 was part of an armed expedition against the tyrant Rafael Leónidas Trujillo, of which he was one of the three survivors.
