Havana, April 2.- The approach to the Comprehensive Policy for Children, Adolescents and Youth has marked the evening agenda of the XII Congress of the Union of Young Communists (UJC), which began this Tuesday at the Convention Palace, in Havana.

In the panel held at the Convention Center, with the presence of the Vice Minister of the Government Jorge Luis y Di-Lella, and the heads of Education, Higher Education, Communications, Labor and Social Security, Public Health, Science, Technology and Environment, Core issues related to the labor insertion of young people and teenage pregnancy as a health problem were analyzed.

Government Ministers attended the Panel and answered questions from delegates and guests.

The participation of social workers in the transformation of vulnerable communities, educational improvement and access to Higher Education were also the subject of analysis.

With the implementation of the integral policy for children, adolescents and youth, the Government of Cuba today prioritizes the protection of these age groups and ensures the future of the new generations.

This was ratified this Tuesday by the ministers present on the panel. The director of the Youth Studies Center, Keyla Estévez, highlighted that the comprehensive policy is the political will of the Cuban State and confirms that there is nothing more important than a child and young person in the country, so guaranteeing the future of the new generations is essential.

Likewise, she stressed that the program aims to serve youth from their plurality so that they find the realization of their life projects in Cuba.

For his part, Vice Prime Minister Jorge Luis Perdomo recalled that the policy includes 14 objectives that are related to sexual and reproductive health; the training, the preparation of young people, their participation in defense, in internal order, and in productive work.

In addition, he explained that the program helps to understand Cuban history and confront cultural globalization, a topic that he considered fundamental due to the importance of defending national and territorial identity.

We will have a law that will legally codify this policy, said the deputy prime minister, who stressed the need for the content of the law to be visible and reach every child, adolescent and young person in the Caribbean country.

He pointed out that the program, which includes the age group, from six to 30 years, has an integrative nature due to its generational approach and how it raises the principles of participation, equity, comprehensive development and intersectorality.

During the panel, delegates from the UJC Congress asked the ministers of the Caribbean country about essential issues in current Cuban society such as continuity of studies, postgraduate training, care for vulnerable families and recreational options.

The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Marta Elena Feitó, explained that measures are being implemented in the Caribbean country to stimulate the permanence of young people in employment, related to the continuity of postgraduate training, the quality of work placement, the completion of paid pre-professional internships, and participation in research and development projects.

At the meeting, the communication campaign of the comprehensive policy for children, adolescents and youth was presented, which seeks to promote the content of the program on different platforms and encourage its protagonists to participate in the implementation process.

Under the motto Create your Happiness, the XII Congress of the UJC will officially begin tomorrow with the participation of about 400 delegates and around a hundred guests. (Text and photos: Digital Workers with information from Tribuna de La Habana and Prensa Latina)
