Anti-imperialist tribune will host workers' celebration in Cuba

Havana, April 15.- The Cuban Workers' Central (CTC in Spanish) chose the capital's José Martí Anti-Imperialist Tribune as the headquarters of the central activities for the International Workers' Day next May Day, its directors reported today.

The general secretary of the CTC, Ulises Guilarte, declared on Cuban television that it is the second time that the largest union celebration in the world will take place on the island outside of its usual setting, the José Martí Revolution Square, also in Havana.

The labor leader defended the symbolism of the Anti-imperialist Tribune, which he described as a stage where the spirit of struggle and rebellion of the Cuban revolutionary process has been expressed many times.

Organizers of the parade detailed that more than 65 thousand residents of five municipalities of Havana will attend the event of the world proletariat, which will be replicated in every town and square in the country.

Likewise, the CTC leader assured that this May Day they will celebrate the 65th anniversary of the first parade for the anniversary held on the island after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in January 1959.

In the central event, Cubans will demand the cessation of the US economic blockade and the exclusion of the island from the illegal list of countries supposedly sponsoring terrorism, in addition to encouraging increased food production, the labor leader added.

Guilarte participated together with the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in the capital, Liván Izquierdo, in one of the massive volunteer works that took place today, on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the victory in Playa Girón, and the founding of the organization partisan.
