Havana, April 17.- Deputies members of the Agri-Food, Attention to Local Bodies of People's Power and Health and Sports commissions of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament) today checked compliance with the agreement regarding the Government's report on the implementation of Law no. 148 On Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security.
With the presence of Esteban Lazo Hernández, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Party and president of the Parliament and the Council of State, the meeting took place in the Baraguá room of the National Capitol, the Legislative website reported.
Directors of the Ministry of Agriculture (Minagri) explained the results regarding the preparation of the food balance at the municipal level, the contracting of agricultural products, the operation of the contracting committees and price agreement, among other topics of interest.
Alexis Rodríguez Pérez, general director of Economics and Agricultural Development of Minagri, explained to the parliamentarians the progress of the agreement and the main challenges of the sector in this regard.
He commented that the way that is being used to influence inflationary prices is for the state company and the cooperatives to achieve greater hiring.
In that sense, he referred to the necessary timely payment to producers and the collection of contracted production.
For his part, Lazo Hernández called to strengthen Cuban agriculture with collective effort, the integration of all organizations and popular participation to solve the problems with the required urgency and the conviction that food production is a problem for the entire society. nation.
