Camagüey successfully performs surgical procedure for hip spring trauma (+ Photos)

Camagüey, April 22.- The multidisciplinary team at the Eduardo Agramonte Piña Pediatric Hospital in Camagüey successfully performed the first endoscopic surgical intervention to treat a trauma known as snapping hip, offering new hope for patients with this condition.

Raykel Enmanuel González, a 14-year-old teenager from Camagüey, was the beneficiary of this treatment. He is in good health and if his recovery continues without setbacks, it is expected that he will be able to return home tomorrow, Tuesday.

Dr. Alejandro Álvarez López, specialist in Orthopedics and Traumatology, highlighted that the surgical technique used allows admission and operation on the same day.

He added that this methodology minimizes the need for intensive postoperative care and facilitates faster incorporation, unlike open surgeries, which require larger incisions, the method practiced is performed with cuts smaller than one centimeter, which speeds up the healing process.

Álvarez López pointed out that minor incisions benefit postoperative appearance, this is relevant since the snapping hip condition usually occurs during adolescence, a stage where aesthetics can be a significant concern.

The surgeon highlighted the avant-garde nature of the endoscopic operation in Camagüey, an important milestone for the medical center, which inaugurates an advanced era in healthcare in the region. (Text and photos: Dannys Hernández de Luaces/Radio Cadena Agramonte)
