The plenary process of the National Association of Small Farmers began for Camagüey

Camagüey, June 19 - Members of the peasant and cooperative sector of Camagüey developed during this week the XI ordinary plenary session of the Provincial Committee of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP), a process that will be extended until the 28th in all regions of the country.

The strengthening of the structures at the base, the behavior of the main productive indicators, and the fight against crime, corruption, illegalities and social indiscipline were some of the points discussed at the meeting.

Sergio Rodríguez Salcedo, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Agrifood Sphere, informed that with respect to the previous year, better results have been achieved in vegetables, beans, corn, rice and sheep meat, while milk, honey and pork meat have decreased.

"The harvest was also inferior. The three industries presented instability in the milling process, which had a notable influence on the fulfillment of the daily task, in addition to the lack of fuel, spare parts, tires, batteries, lubricants, and poor organization in the harvest schedule due to irregular bonfires, and the lack of electricity in the collection centers," he explained.

In general, there is a need to change methods and work styles that allow greater control of production and marketing, increase agro-ecological practices, achieve the correct use of the land fund and carry out a good spring campaign.

Actions against crime are another pending task to overcome. At the end of May, 2208 head of cattle were affected, including 1649 cows, with the highest incidence in the municipalities of Guáimaro and Najasa.

"At this moment we have about 350 auxiliaries of the National Revolutionary Police in the sector, and in process the approval of more than 404 associates, in addition to those responsible for Security and Protection in the organizations," said Elizabeth Arca Morell, member of the Bureau in the area of Education and Political and Ideological Work in the ANAP of the territory.

"We have Peasant Vigilance Detachments, however it is clear from the growing crime rate that we still have a long way to go to achieve the necessary levels of consolidation," she said.

The action plan was reinforced, including the prioritization of the tours and surprise visits to vulnerable communities, achieving the warning system in 100% of the farms, organizing monthly check-up programs with night tours, and making the most of the denunciation system.

During the plenary session, more than twenty activities were proposed for the next stage of work, and movements of members in the Provincial Committee were approved. Comrades Diudnel Jiménez Peña and Yoandris Arias Hernández were promoted as presidents of ANAP in the municipalities of Guáimaro and Santa Cruz del Sur respectively.

"Here we have seen several strategic issues for the development of the peasant cooperative sector in the province. We fundamentally evaluated the involvement of the committee members in all the priorities of the organization, with emphasis on food production", commented to Adelante Osmani Pérez Márquez, member of the National Bureau of ANAP, who is in charge of the Organization and Administration area.

"We insisted a lot on the issues that we need to continue promoting and to obtain the result that the highest leadership of the country is asking us".

Also during the day, the national seminar started in the province with all the specialist cadres members of the committee to develop the organic process of the XIII Congress of the organization. (Adelante Digital) (Photo: Internet)
