Cuba's denunciation of Israel’s aggression disclosed in Sri Lanka

Colombo, Oct 4.- The Sri Lanka Guardian newspaper today highlighted on its page the recent complaint by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs about Israel's military incursion into the Middle East with the complicity of the United States.

The Sri Lankan newspaper published in full the declaration of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, faithful to the historical position of the Caribbean nation of commitment to justice and international law, as stated in the text itself.

In the statement, Cuba expressed its deep concern about the events in the Middle East, motivated by Israel's aggressive policy, with the military, logistical and political support of Washington.

It stressed that these actions led to a dangerous escalation that provoked a response from Iran and the continued increase in regional instability and insecurity.

The Cuban Foreign Ministry recalled that Tel Aviv, instead of seeking a negotiated way for a ceasefire, intensified its irresponsible aggression against Lebanon, Syria and Yemen, almost a year after the genocide that its Army committed against the Palestinian people.

In that sense, the Caribbean nation reiterated the alerts about the risk of the current situation in the Middle East and the consequences of the impunity with which Israel acts.

Cuba also expressed its solidarity with the nations affected by Israel, called for peace and urged that a ceasefire be immediately negotiated to avoid a further escalation of the crisis, which, it noted, has already claimed tens of thousands of lives and has seriously aggravated the humanitarian crisis to alarming levels in the populations of the region.

Finally, it reaffirmed his support for a comprehensive, lasting and just solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with the establishment of a sovereign and independent Palestinian State within the pre-1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Likewise, he asked that the full and immediate admission of Palestine as a member of the United Nations be guaranteed without further delay. (Text and photo: PL)
