Sancti Spíritus, Oct 7. - This October 7 marks the 66th anniversary of one of the most relevant events in the fight against tyranny in the central part of Cuba: the constitution of the Northern Front of Las Villas.

Almost at the end of 1958, fighting took place in Iguará, Meneses, Zulueta - for the second time -, Mayajigua and Yaguajay, where the longest battle of the Las Villas Campaign would take place.

Both columns carried out decisive actions in the defeat of Batista's tyranny on January 1, 1959, Camilo in taking the Yaguajay Barracks, and Che achieving victory in Villas Clara.
