Commander Che Guevara remembered in Italy 57 years after his death

Rome, Oct. 8.- The National Italy-Cuba Friendship Association (Anaic in Spanish) paid tribute to Commander Ernesto Che Guevara, on the 57th anniversary of his physical disappearance, with an event held in the northern city of Collegno, a spokesperson reported.

The president of Anaic, Marco Papacci, stated in statements to Prensa Latina that the ceremony took place the day before in Che Guevara Square, which stands in his memory in that town in the province of Turin, Piedmont region, and he said with a large presence of members of the association, authorities and residents of that community.

The commemoration was attended by the mayor of Collegno, Matteo Cavallone; Silvana Accosato, president of the National Association of Italian Partisans (ANPI) in that city, as well as Tiziana Manzi, secretary of the local circle of Anaic and Fidel Ajuria, representing the Cuban Embassy in this country.

Manzi wondered where Che was in these times of war? and he affirmed that it was surely from the Palestinians in Gaza, who face Israel's aggression.

For his part, Papacci narrated passages from the life of Commander Ernesto Che Guevara in his fight for a better world, as well as the attempts of the US government and its lackeys to silence him, something they failed to do because his memory and example are still alive.

The president of Anaic referred to the complex situation that Cuba faces, with the intensification of the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States, while demanding its cessation and the exclusion of the Caribbean nation from the spurious North American list of countries alleged to sponsor terrorism.
