Havana, Oct 30.- World Taekwondo has taken an important step to guarantee the continuity and growth of the sport globally until 2026 with new appointments to its committees and the Technical Commission.
Those elected will begin their two-year terms in November, and their goals are to provide experiences and knowledge to propel taekwondo to new heights.
Among the appointments, the Frenchman Philippe Bouedo stands out as president of the Technical Commission, a result of his outstanding career as an athlete and coach in his native country, as well as for his work as president of the World Taekwondo Games and technical delegate in three Games. Olympics: London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.
Egyptian Mohamed Shaaban, who acted as interim president of the World Taekwondo Technical Commission and Technical Delegate for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, has been re-elected to the position. He will be joined by Vusala Clifton from the United States as Vice President, forming a team with a renewed vision.
In the Referees Committee, Zhu Linfang, from China, will assume the presidency after serving as vice president and international referee in the five rings events of Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, while the Medical and Anti-Doping Committee will have Frank Duren, from Germany, as its new owner.
Additionally, Usman Dildar of Great Britain has been re-elected as President of the Parataekwondo Committee.
