USA, Nov 8. - Fax is an old technology supplanted by servers and online that, however, resists in some offices and also in the private use of some celebrities, such as Dolly Parton.
It is still used by 25 million people around the world and is part of the resurgence of hard-to-dispose objects from the past, such as audio cassettes, feature phones and floppy disks.
The Guardian is rediscovering this object and has also launched a survey among its readers to find out who still uses fax.
According to the newspaper, for example, the company that runs the railways in northern Britain still uses it for the shifts of traveling staff. And it is not the only company.
In Germany, according to a survey published in July, a quarter of companies still frequently use fax machines and these devices are used in many German hospitals.
Japanese officials also continue to use them, citing a lower risk of piracy thanks to technology that converts a stream of sounds into pulses of ink.
Among fax fans is country music star Dolly Parton, who refuses to send text messages and instead types faxes to communicate with her "goddaughter, Miley Cyrus."
According to statistics from analytics company Gitnux, there are still 25 million faxes in use worldwide. (Text and Photo: Cubasí)
