Ramallah, Nov 15.- Palestinian Health Minister Majed Abu Ramadan described the health situation in Gaza as catastrophic after more than a year of daily attacks by the Israeli army, which have caused more than 43,700 deaths.
The attack affected all hospitals and medical centers in the territory, many of which were destroyed or damaged, the official said while speaking at the seventh edition of the World Health Innovation Summit, held in Qatar, according to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.
He pointed out that only a few facilities are partially functioning after the attacks and criticized the lack of fuel and medical supplies, the murders of hundreds of employees in the sector and the difficulty in reaching these centers due to continuous movement orders.
We renew our call to the world and especially to health and human rights organizations to pressure Israel to stop this escalation of violence, he stressed.
The minister stressed the seriousness of the sanitary conditions in Gaza, which are also affected by the lack of drinking water and the spread of diseases, including polio.
In this regard, he recalled that Palestine has not reported cases of polio for more than 30 years and condemned the actions taken by Israeli troops that prevented, in some areas, the completion of a recent vaccination campaign by the Palestinian government in cooperation with the UN and international non-governmental organizations.
The continued aggression caused the murder of employees working in international humanitarian organizations, questioned Abu Ramadan, who condemned the neighboring country for “the unprecedented violation of international norms and rights.” (Text and photo: PL)
