Russian president calls for intercepting foreign espionage work

Moscow, Dec. 20. - Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on national intelligence and security agencies to intercept the activities of foreign spy services in the country, the Kremlin said today.

The work of foreign intelligence services must be stopped in an operative manner, and those who organize sabotage and terrorist acts must be actively combated, Putin said in a congratulatory message to Russia's intelligence and security agencies, which are celebrating their professional holiday on December 20.

In particular, the president pointed out that the Federal Security Service (FSB, by its acronym in Russian) must coordinate its work with units of the Army and other security structures.

The president also stressed that counterintelligence must act in a precise and systematic manner, especially in the area of ??the military operation against Ukrainian troops.

The Head of State also indicated that security agencies have to facilitate the uninterrupted operation of state institutions, prevent industrial espionage in defense companies and in everything related to advanced weapons.

Putin also said that those who spread racial hatred and religious intolerance, those who try to destabilize the country and weaken it from within, must respond with the full weight of the law.

The key task remains the fight against terrorism. I ask all agencies, especially the FSB, to work hard in this area and mobilize all the accumulated experience, he said. (Text and photo: PL)
