Camagüey, Jan 9.- This province has more than a hundred entities that are part of the Family Care System, served by the more than 20 Gastronomy Base Business Units in operation in the main municipality.
Within the center of the princely city there are several facilities of this program; belonging to the UEB La Tinajita, of the Municipal Company of Restaurants and Recreation Centers, “El Cerdito” is located on República street, with a capacity to serve 149 beneficiaries and currently provide services for 148.
In addition, they have a food sales service, also at reasonable prices, along with the lunches and meals they offer to the elderly and vulnerable people who receive the service managed by social workers.
According to what is established, the menu must include rice, main course, broths, salads, root vegetables and dessert; without failing to mention that both at the national and local level the quality of the offer in some units causes dissatisfaction among those assisted, as a result of the difficult economic situation that the country is going through.
Since 1998, Cuba has had the Family Care System, popularly known as SAF, a program that integrates gastronomic units as providers of food for older adults, people with disabilities, critical social cases, with insufficient income and without family members who can provide help.
