Camagüey, July 11. - The Cuban Telecommunications Company (Etecsa) in Camagüey is making progress in the expansion and modernization of its cellular network with the installation of new base stations (RBS, for its acronym in Spanish) and battery banks, both in the capital city and in communities throughout the province.

According to Edel Mendoza Valdivia, Head of Wireless Networks, the project includes the modernization of 18 base stations and the installation of 13 new ones, equipped with 2100 band technology, which offers greater durability and efficiency.

In addition, the cabinets, including antennas, radios, and cards, are being completely renovated with imported components to ensure optimal service.

Joan Fonseca Álvarez, Head of Operations at Etecsa Camagüey, emphasized that these improvements will increase simultaneous call capacity, as well as provide greater connection quality and stability for users.

The municipalities most benefited will be Florida, Minas, Sierra de Cubitas, Esmeralda, Nuevitas, Najasa, and Santa Cruz del Sur, along with the city of Camagüey. The goal is for all popular councils to have access to the internet, a task in which tower crews are actively working, such as the one led by Reinier Milanés Rodríguez, in charge of the work on the 26 mobile and landline sites.

To date, 43 battery replacements have been carried out, and work will begin in the coming days in Batalla de las Guásimas (Vertientes), Martí (Guáimaro), and Mola (Sibanicú) areas.

With these actions, Etecsa seeks to strengthen the technological infrastructure and improve connectivity in the region. (Text and photos: Gladys Daylin Morera Cordero/Radio Cadena Agramonte)
