Unions in Camagüey prepare workers for referendum on the Labor Code

Camagüey, September 3. – The labor movement in Camagüey has demonstrated a firm and organized commitment in preparing for the referendum on the draft of the new Labor Code. Aware of the importance of their active participation, local unions are adjusting their structures and strategies to ensure effective members participation in this democratic process.

This effort seeks to strengthen workers' capacity to contribute ideas and proposals that enrich the legal text, ensuring that their interests are duly represented and considered in the construction of a more just and equitable labor framework.

To begin this important stage, a provincial pilot assembly will be held, which will serve as an example and reference for future consultations. This meeting will mark the formal start of the process, promoting a space for open and organized dialogue between union representatives and workers.

These activities, planned throughout the country from September 8 to November 30, seek to ensure an inclusive and representative process, with special emphasis on the non-state sector, considered a priority in the bill. The integration of all labor stakeholders, especially those from non-traditional forms of work, is essential to achieving a consensus that reflects the real needs of the sector.

The participation of the labor movement in Camagüey in the consultation on the draft Labor Code reflects a collective effort to strengthen labor democracy and defend workers' rights. This process represents a historic opportunity to strengthen social dialogue and move toward more inclusive and participatory labor legislation.
