Havana, Feb 6th. - Cuba's president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, advocated for the improvement of the national statistical system, in the face of the economic-social transformations that the Caribbean nation is experiencing, the Granma newspaper reported.
The head of State called for increased training for workers in this sector and promoting the culture of paying taxes, during the annual report of the Office for Statistics and Information (ONEI).
At the meeting, held the day before, Díaz-Canel urged to seek a friendlier relationship between those who must provide statistical information and those who process it.
On the indiscipline in the delivery of information by the entities, he pointed out that it is an old problem and considered that the actors who must tax the relevant entities are required.
In this regard, the president suggested organizing a debate on this issue at the national level, in the structures of the Communist Party of Cuba and the Government, because of the importance that this task has for decision-making.
Regarding the workforce deficit in the Municipal Statistical Offices, he pointed out that it is necessary to look for different solutions with a different look, in modern life it is resolved with digital transformation, computerizing and digitally transforming the processes.
We have challenges, we have challenges, we cannot fail to recognize what you have done in these tough years, but we have to, with talent, creativity, go to another moment, and we are convinced that you can do it," he stressed.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, described as vital the discipline in the provision of statistical information by ministries, agencies, entities and actors linked to non-state management.
He also referred to the actions currently occupied by the work of ONEI and its subordinate entities at the territorial level, such as consolidating a monitoring system for the Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security Act.
The head of Government emphasized that it is a top priority, as part of the office's work projections, the development of a group of indicators associated with high-impact public policies. (Text and PL Photo)
