Camagüey excels in mobile phone implementation and internet access

Camagüey, Feb 10th. - More than half a million users access mobile telephony in Camagüey, according to Yoan Fonseca Alvarez, head of operations of the Territorial Division of the Cuban Telecommunications Company in the province.

He stressed that 80 percent of users have access to the internet and added that in the last year data traffic experienced an increase of almost 19 thousand connections to Nauta Home. Although this increase is moderate, the service has been able to expand its capabilities.

He pointed out that significant progress has been made in several Popular Councils, especially in Mojacasabe and Belén, in the mountainous municipality of Najasa, and the goal is to reach 100 percent coverage in the province, taking advantage of the possibilities of network connectivity.

Currently 13 People’s Councils are awaiting development, which will require considerable investments that are difficult to implement in the current context.

Camagüey consolidates itself as the fifth province in the country in the implementation of mobile telephony, standing out for its progress in connectivity and access to modern technology. This initiative not only improves communication among the inhabitants, but also boosts economic and social development in the region.
