Camagüey's health system adopts measures for patient care (+Photos)

Camagüey, Feb 10. – As part of the measures being adopted by the Public Health System in the face of the complex situation arising from limitations in the entry of fuel into the country, conditions are being created in the territory to protect patients receiving Hemodialysis service, in order to guarantee their medical care and quality of life.

Doctor Carlos MoránGiraldo, in charge of the Provincial Directorate, specified that considering the main factor that could affect people with this treatment during the current conjuncture – the distance from the city of Camagüey – conditions were created to accommodate patients and family members, due to the decentralization of Medical Sciences University students to areas of the student residences of the higher education institution.

Another group receiving Chemotherapy treatment at the Marie Curie Oncology Hospital, coming from Las Tunas and Ciego de Ávila, will also be able to stay at the place to receive the required medical attention.

Lester Marrero Molina, rector of the Carlos J. Finlay University, highlighted that based on contingency experiences within the institution itself, the place was prepared in a short time, which will facilitate a favorable stay for patients and companions during the period the restrictions last.

In addition to the conditions of the place with guaranteed basic services, a contingent from the University Student Federation will join this alternative, together with a team of doctors and nursing staff who will accompany the population in general assistance within that institution.

In a very complex scenario for the country, following the intensification of U.S. policy against the island, by exerting maximum pressure with an energy blockade that affects the nation's economic and social activity, the Cuban State maintains priority in vital Public Health services such as hemodialysis and chemotherapy treatments for patients who require them.
