Havana, Mar 7. - President Miguel Díaz-Canel received the ambassadors of Arab and Islamic countries accredited in Cuba at the Palace of the Revolution in the context of the holy month of Ramadan.
For the second consecutive year, the president greeted the representatives of that diplomatic corps, on the occasion of the iftar ceremony or feast of breaking the fast, said a report from the Noticiero Estelar of Cuban television.
At the meeting, where the excellent level of bilateral ties was highlighted, the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, the Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, and senior officials of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present.
The authorities of the Caribbean island conveyed to those present their best wishes for well-being and prosperity, a gesture that was appreciated by the dean of that diplomatic corps, the ambassador of Yemen, Mohamed Saleh Nasher.
The head of the Yemeni legation told the presidential press that Ramadan is a sacred month of blessings and an opportunity to strengthen solidarity, cooperation and tolerance among Arab countries.
He also highlighted the role that Cuba plays in supporting just causes, mainly that of the Palestinian people. He also ratified the position of that community of nations against the blockade and the inclusion of the island in the US list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism.
The Arab world highly values the role that CUBA plays in supporting peace and international justice and we strengthen mutual cooperation at all levels, said the Yemeni diplomat.
At another point in the meeting at the headquarters of the Cuban executive, the ambassadors gave the president a traditional saber that represents the struggles of their peoples against colonialism, as a sign of gratitude for the good level of bilateral relations, the journalistic report stated.
