Inspections in Camagüey seek to protect consumers from excessive prices


Camagüey, Mar 10th. - During the week of March 1st to 7th, two thousand 365 inspections were carried out in the province of Camagüey as part of the fight against abusive prices.

Sarah Varona, Provincial Director of Finance, reported that in this initiative 1,650 inspectors from various institutions participated, who imposed 1,262 fines for a total of four million 269 thousand 398 pesos.

The official explained that 58 forced sales were made in the municipalities of Esmeralda, Minas, Nuevitas, Sibanicú, Camagüey, Florida and Vertientes, which directly benefited the population by establishing official prices against the exorbitant values ??of the merchants.

Among the products involved in these actions are black beans, caupi, pumpkin, tomato, onion, oil, sausages, chickens, rice and cornmeal.

The majority of the inspectors who participated belonged to the Municipal Inspection and Finance Directorates, as well as the supervision, economic planning bodies, the National Revolutionary Police and the Labor Directorates.
