Diversification of external income in Camagüey: a strategic approach for the economy

Camagüey, March 21st. - A series of tasks are currently being undertaken in the capital of Camagüey aimed at increasing and diversifying the country's external revenue.

In response to the government's call to correct distortions and boost the economy in the country, three specific projections have been identified that will be fulfilled through four actions.

These have to do with a diagnosis for the selection and management of new exportable items, training for entities that produce for that purpose, and determining economic actors with the potential to produce for marketing outside of borders.

Foreign trade activity in Camagüey brings together several organizations and institutions, such as the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Statistics, the Cultural Assets Fund, the Dairy, Meat, Fisheries, Forestry, and Beekeeping companies, and the Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz and Carlos J. Finlay universities, in addition to new economic players.

Through the efforts of various entities, both state and private, and the contribution of small-scale industries, the goal is to further develop local production for export and import substitution. (Rodolfo Medina Hechavarría/Radio Camagüey) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
