National Electric System adds eight new solar parks


Havana, March 28th. - All photovoltaic solar parks scheduled for completion this March are now synchronized, reported Vicente de la O Levy, Minister of Energy and Mines, on his X account.

These are the six new 21.8-megawatt parks: La Sabana in Granma; Mango Dulce in Artemisa; Remedios in Villa Clara; La Corúa in Holguín; Jovellanos in Matanzas; and Ciego Norte in Ciego de Ávila.

These are in addition to the two already operating since last February: the Cotorro Nursing School in Havana; and the Alcalde Mayor School in Abreus, Cienfuegos.

The First Secretary of the Party's Central Committee and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, also acknowledged at X that this is great news, the result of the efforts of engineers, technicians, workers, and an entire people who have put themselves to work on one of the most important projects in recent years in Cuba.

He added that we continue to make progress on all fronts to restore the National Electric System (SEN).

The Mango Dulce park in Artemisa was inaugurated yesterday with the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, and its seven investors were already generating energy by the previous afternoon.

As part of the national program to transition toward the use of clean energy and the recovery of the SEN (energy generation system), 50 of these large parks are planned to be added by 2025. (Text and photo: Granma Digital)
