Díaz-Canel congratulates Ciego de Ávila for hosting the national event on July 26th


Havana, June 14 – Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, sent a message of congratulations to the province of Ciego de Ávila for being selected as the national host of the events for July 26th, National Rebellion Day.

Through his official account on the social media platform X, the president emphasized that the territory has earned this recognition through effort, perseverance, and the talent of its people.

In his message, the head of state also sent a supportive hug to the provinces of Guantánamo and Sancti Spíritus, which competed for the host title and which, according to him, have excelled amid very complex situations.

Díaz-Canel expressed the wish that these examples be replicated throughout Cuba,

 “Congratulations to Ciego de Ávila for hosting the 26th of July event! It has earned this place through effort, perseverance, and the talent of its people. I embrace the people of Sancti Spiritus and Guantanamo, who have also excelled amidst very complex situations. May their examples be replicated throughout #Cuba.”

The designation of Ciego de Ávila as the central headquarters of the 26th of July event recognizes its stability in fulfilling key tasks in the economic, political, and social spheres. This has been helped by the system of work and coordination between the Party and government structures and the people, highlighting the active participation of the new generations as an expression of continuity.

In carrying out the analysis, the Political Bureau also agreed to confer the status of Outstanding to the province of Sancti Spíritus, the previous host for the festivities on 26 July, which has maintained a stable work over the last years, expressed in socio-economic indicators.

Likewise, it granted Recognition to the province of Guantánamo, based on its promotion of priority programs with broad public participation, as evidenced in the recovery following Hurricane Oscar. (ACN) (Photo: Trabajadores Digital)
