Camaguey, Apr 14th. - As a useful, deep and comprehensive event, Alpidio Alonso Grau, Minister of Culture, described the First National Colloquium "Pride of being Cuban" that culminated last Sunday in this city.
The headline said that culture is essential to defend the nation and has to face the disintegrating forces, because it is necessary, to confine ourselves, to articulate and to concrete actions and proposals because we must take the cultural battle and win it.
Alonso Grau acknowledged the quality of the event and the interventions contributing of panelists and participants, cultural colonization, he said, is a cardinal theme at times like this, so it is important and urgent that we prepare to face the economic and also cultural battle, to develop the spiritual reserves of the Cuban nation.
Those of us who are fully aware of culture, those who believe in its transformative capacity, which is an antidote to face all that colonizing avalanche, we must do a great job of conviction and make aware of the importance of culture and its valuable contributions, he said.
During the conversation "Cultural challenges of contemporaneity," Abel Prieto Jiménez, president of Casa de las Américas, referred to the gaps in the teaching and dissemination of Cuba's history and recognized that this space is transcendental to achieve the pride of being Cubans.
He stressed that knowledge about the figures of martyrs with a true emotional fiber, rather than with data and chronology, should be imparted.
The way to change the existing codes of communication, the way to get young people in love with our cubanía will achieve it with intelligence and union because the pride of being Cubans has suffered blows in sectors of the Cuban population, colonization has won hearts but we have a history to feel pride in being Cubans, Prieto Jiménez added.
For his part, Ernesto Limia, historian and researcher, said that the conference given at the Mausoleum Complex in Guáimaro was the most amazing moment of his entire life in his 56 years, and that Camaguey is the ideal platform to launch from culture the pride of being Cuban.
The great challenge is to contribute from culture to education( mold factory) teacher-forming teachers because from it you can provide tools for art to legitimize politics, Limia said.
The theoretical session also took place the presentation of the special edition of 2024 of the Revolution Magazine and Culture by Enrique Ubieta Gómez, its director, researcher and essayist.
