Ramallah, April 16 – Former Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh today criticized the international silence regarding the Israeli military offensive against the Gaza Strip, which he described as an atrocious crime.
In statements to Palestine TV, the also member of the Central Committee of the governmental movement Fatah accused the neighboring country of violating "all international conventions and prohibitions."
Gaza is being divided, the city of Rafah is being completely razed, and all Palestinians are being pushed to specific areas to carry out the displacement process, he warned.
Shtayyeh noted that almost all hospitals in the coastal enclave are out of service due to systematic bombing and the Israeli blockade, which prevents the entry of vital supplies.
He also denounced the killings of civilians, including minors, the mass displacement of citizens, and the rape of women.
International silence in the face of these crimes is equivalent to complicity with aggression, he stressed.
Regarding the reconciliation between Fatah and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), he highlighted the importance of the union and affirmed that all national forces must be under the umbrella of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
The PLO is the only legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, recalled the politician, who called on Hamas to accept its program. (Text and photo: PL)
